ACS Division of Chemical Information (CINF)

I have been involved with the ACS Division of Chemical Information (CINF) since 2019. As the Program Chair, I managed the technical program for the ACS National Meetings with about 20 symposia sessions. My responsibilities included allocating technical sessions, scheduling symposia sessions, communicating with symposia organizers, managing event logistics, and hosting social events. In 2022, I was elected as the incoming Chair-Elect.

Leadership Offices Held:

  • Chair-Elect, 2023
  • Program Chair, 2022
  • Assistant Program Chair, 2021
  • Symposium Organizer, 2020

ACS Pride, Division of Professional Relations (PROF)

I was the 2021 Chair of ACS Pride, a subdivision of the Division of Professional Relations (PROF). I organized conference symposia highlighting LGBTQ+ speakers and issues at ACS National Meetings. I also worked with other trans chemists to advise on the landmark ACS Publications Name Change Policy. This policy had widespread impact, both for the authors who gained agency over their scholarly records and as a watershed moment for other publishing outlets to follow.

Leadership Offices Held:

  • ACS Pride Chair, 2021
  • ACS Pride Chair-Elect, 2020

United Faculty of Florida, UF Chapter (UFF-UF)

I am a proud member and activist in my union, United Faculty of Florida (UFF-UF). I believe that we are facing a critical moment with unprecedented attacks on higher education and our biggest strength is our collective voice. I am deeply concerned about protecting academic freedom and tenure, especially in the face of recent legislation (including Florida HB7, the “Stop WOKE Act”). I am currently the Chapter Secretary on the Executive Council and an organizer with the Membership Committee.

Leadership Involvement:

  • Chapter Secretary, 2022
  • Membership Committee Member, 2022
  • Membership Committee Member, 2019
